ABOUT US

A senior class of La Consolacion College, formerly Our Lady of Fatima Academy, Tanauan City, Batangas.  The 57 "naive highschool geeks" graduated years ago, April 1994 to be exact.

We were young achievers... taught and trained to excel both in academics and in extra-curricular activities.  Contrary to the name of our section, Saint Luke people have actually "not too saintly" interests and activities.

how our friendship started...

As Freshmen, we were right away exposed to the competitive world of cheering.  We were always in high SPIRIT(S)!  S - supernatural; P - phenomenal; I - industrious; R - responsible; I - intelligent; T - terrific... Whew!  Girls were made to wear "crepe paper skirts" and boys, "puruntong".  Nevertheless, we won.

"Exploratory" best describes our Sophomore year. A matter of fact is, we created a mini-forest as our science project.  We brought along seedlings for transplanting, and waited long months for those seedlings to grow,  only to find out later that Cyperus rotundus and Imperata cylindrica (mutha and cogon, respectively) were the lone survivors.  Experiments do fail.  We moved on...  Our group projects were scheduled during weekends at "Ibayo", San Pedro & Tinurik.  "They" swam (1 of our classmates almost drowned and was miraculously saved by another non-swimmer classmate) and climbed coconut trees.  In a year's time of out-of town adventures, our section was able to produce and direct two movies:  "Florante at Laura" and 3 stories on "Relationships".  "All study and no play makes Juan a dull boy", we lived by the saying.

Our Junior year was no less exciting.  We were hyperactive.  We joined school contests, participated in school programs as singers,  dancers, and even as hosts. We were even involved in section rivalries, but only during intramurals.   We made our mentors cry, brought about by a feeling of mixed emotions - either we were too good with our "action songs & jingles" or we were too busy with "uh hum... activities".  Boys, how about bringing again those magazines of yours, we haven't had a glimpse of it until now.

Then comes the last chapter of our highschool years.  Undeniably, our Senior year was the most binding of all the years.  We were "outstanding" students, literally.  We were made to stay outside the classroom for not bringing our Physics book,  we were reprimanded countless times for forcefully opening our classroom doors to do unfinished reports.  We were always on the rush meeting the club and class deadlines!  The other side of us though is completely the opposite.  Ironically, we were regarded as the role model not only for producing the top honor students.  We were leaders in our own rights, we made and gave rules,  and mandated others to follow (there are also anti's, though).  And while we are putting much effort unto creating a lasting impression and legacy to our dearest alma mater, unto building "boy and girl" relationships, we unconsciously found something more profound and worth treasuring...  it is the lasting friendship among Saint Luke students.

life after highschool...

When we graduated from highschool, we never promised anything of any sort that we'll keep in touch.  It was a "come what may" attitude.  We parted ways, attended different Universities, pursued varied interests and later took separate career paths.

It is our friendship which paved the way to bring us back together.

Since 1998, we have devoted at least one Saturday a year to reminisce the past and strengthen the "bond".  We go out for a night swimming or any gimmick  within the bounds of our budget.  We do remember our classmate's birthdays (and their fiestas).  Of course, more than anything else, food is nearest to a person's heart!

We started exchanging  emails and text messages sometime in March 2000.  Just this year, 2001, the original organizing effort to create a website planted its seeds during the latest gathering at Miramonte Village, Pansol, Laguna.  You can now have a taste of its "fruits".

the challenges ahead...

Some have already a family of their own, many may have left for abroad to study, work & immigrate,  and some may be too busy with someone & something else... one thing is constant though, we've been FRIENDS and we'll always be.

We'll keep our communication and life lines open for each other.
